“All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost."

As this first picture shows, my hope & prayer throughout this journey is that Gods hand will guide, strengthen and support me. Since without Him, I am nothing, with Him, anything is possible... And already I've experienced that.

It all started even on my flight over, there were a lot of families, who they were trying to seat together, which meant that my carefully chosen seat was changed, and I was moved to a front seat in the comfort class... All the leg room in the world, cabin crew that approached me saying: Miss Calvert, how are you? Its a little shocking when someone already knows who you are... Lol so blessed, slept well, watched some movies and the food wasn't bad.

At arrival at the hostel, it is pretty much what is to be expected of a backpackers hostel... Lots of people, fun & music. I am blessed by being in a room, with at least two people who are living here for a longer period of time, which means they keep the room tidy and are connected with people, if I ever need anything... Favor! Furthermore they have a big swimming pool (where I am now sitting whilst writing this) and offer free shuttle to Manhatten beach (now my favorite beach) so quiet, peaceful and family orientated! The main sound being the noise of the waves, bliss!!! They have free food in the morning and evening, not great choice, but nice to have the option.

So far I have spent a few days on Manhatten beach, taking in the wonderful sun, swimming in the high waves (Hoek v Holland is nothing compared to swimming in the sea here). I've spent a day in Hollywood, walking up and down the walk of fame, nothing spectacular, but nice to have experienced once. I was more excited about my delicious Mexican salad for lunch and finding a Ross dress for less store. :-) oh the Calvin Klein dresses are so pretty, but I am practicing self-control since I'm only in week 1. :-)

Last Sunday I was blessed to find Victory Outreach Inglewood at only 10 minutes walking distance, how great it is to have family all over the world. On Monday, one of the woman I met at church offered to take me out for the day and we done so much, besides having a wonderful time of fellowship. This is the summary: Venice beach, Muscle beach, skatepark, walked up the boulevard to Santa Monica beach & pier, then walked back and drove past the Ghetty house to Malibu beach, where we took a walk through a beautiful State Park and viewed the surfers!

I could go on for ages, about lessons I've learnt and things I've seen, but I'll let the pictures speak for them-self. Mainly I feel very rested, spoilt with time to read, rest & reflect! The sun is doing me the world of good, as well as being enriched by meeting wonderful new people. I'll have lots more to share next week... As I will be attending local youth GANG bible study tonight, I have booked tickets to watch a Basketball game at the Staples center tomorrow and spend sometime downtown, then this weekend have arranged to meet and spend time with family & friends here in LA. Missing everyone at home, but know I am right now exactly where I need to be!

Lots of love & I'll be in touch again soon.

  1. Hi Zoe, fantastisch om te lezen dat je het zo naar je zin hebt. Toch wel een beetje jaloersmakend hoor, die foto's uit de VS… Enjoy and keep us posted! xxx Esther (NAI)
